Our Place in the Universe

I like to think about things that I never question.
Our lives have changed more in the last 100 years
than in the previous million. Without electricity we
would go to bed way earlier and look at the sky more.
How would that change your life?

  1. What a powerful video. Your ability to give your visitors the best videos makes your site helpful. Happy New year and keep up the good work.

  2. Really cool video and so true. Nothing compares being out in the country and being able to see the milky way and experience a full sky. It’s a shame that we’ve lost it, but it’s up to each person to go out there and look up for themselves. Cool blog. I’ll be back for more deep insights.

  3. yes pinky! as we further our research into ourselves, we come across the smaller, and then the infinity of the inner Self. And our memories embedded in our cells will be there for us to see the similarities with the outer Self that continues to explore it’s Self!

  4. Guess I’m very lucky – we live on the far northern coast of California and unless there’s fog (unfortunately is a common occurrence), we are able to enjoy the night sky and stars. We like it dark at night and will often stand outside when it’s not too cold or windy, just to watch the stars. We love it in August when the Perseid meteor shower displays quite beautifully.

  5. I live in the south of France and adore to look into the sky at the Milky Way an the amazing thinks like comets and stuff that pass us by.

I am amazed other people have no interest in the sky whatsoever.!!!!!!!!!

This says it all. I feel truly sorry for those who are not aware of the sky.

I remember camping in Wyoming miles away from any civilization and was awestruck at the sky. I saw millions of stars and they seemed so close that I could just reach up and touch them.

  7. This brings me back to my nights camping in the desert in Saudi Arabia on the way to Madein Saleh. Actually i quite often look at the sky both at night and during the day…I love looking at the stars, moon, constellations and the like

During my childhood camping and on our villa’s open air roof in Jeddah, i fell asleep under the milky way upon green cots with my brother, lulling me to sleep.

I am a writer and all will be in my memoir next year when published.

    Thank you for sharing!

  8. What a powerful video. I almost stopped it – boy I am glad I didn’t.
    Thank You

  9. One of my pet peeves – light pollution! I think I’ll post this video on my websites to remind everyone that night time is meant to be dark. I have even written to my City Council asking them to require businesses to turn off their lighting after they have closed – but no one listens…very sad. I saw a photo of Earth taken from space that showed how much light covered the planet and it really made me sad. Not only are we wasting energy and creating pollution, we are making ourselves edgier from all the stimulation that artificial light causes. I’m not saying we should sit in the dark, but do we really need all the light at night that we have?

  10. On first hearing, I’d say that going to bed earlier would help us experience more natural sunlight, which is good for serotonin levels and fighting things like depression. Funny, so many of the challenges we face in our time were created by technology…something which is supposed to make our lives easier.
